Writers’ Club

Finding new and exciting ways to teach writing and engage children is a priority for our school and has led to the development of Mrs Walker’s popular after school club for year 6 children who have a talent for writing. The children take part in a range of stimulating and exciting experiences that support and further their skills.

In order for the children to take complete ownership of this project, they are given control over all aspects, including the planning of these experiences. During the initial stages of the club each child decides upon a city they would like to visit, with consideration of our theme ‘What does the city have to offer children – an evaluation.’ After careful reflection the children will use their skills to produce a suitable persuasive presentation about their chosen city. These presentations will be shared with the group as a whole, and then voted upon by the children to give an overall winner. I wonder where we might visit this year? Watch this space!
