Year 6 Football

The Year 6 seven a side team travelled to St Mary’s on Tuesday to play league games against St Mary’s and Hill View, realistically needing two wins to have any chance of retaining the league title and qualifying for the finals evening after Easter. The boys made the best possible start when Kyle gave Broadway the lead but St Mary’s equalised shortly before half time. Riley looked to have secured three valuable points when he scored to regain the lead with two minutes remaining but direct from the kick off St Mary’s equalised and the boys had to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw.

The second game against Hill View saw a disappointing performance in which the boys found themselves 5-1 down before a fightback saw Jack add to his first half goal and Riley and John both score to reduce the arrears to 5-4. With the boys pressing hard for an equaliser, Hill View scored on the break to seal the game courtesy of a 6-4 score line.

The previous week saw the nine a side squad travel to St Benet’s for a league game and emerge victorious courtesy of a good 5-2 victory thanks a hat trick from Jack and two goals from John. This puts the boys in a strong position with three league games remaining.
