The Year 5/6 seven a side football team travelled to Ouston in Chester-le-Street in the semi-finals of the Alan Grimes County seven a side trophy and won their group to qualify for the final for the third consecutive season. The boys made an excellent start against favourites Tanfield Lea and two goals from Jack and two own goals secured a 4-1 victory. The boys then defeated Neville’s Cross thanks to goals from John, Jack and Fletcher before losing the final game 0-2 against a very good Ouston side. When all of the scores were checked, the boys qualified for the final courtesy of a superior goal difference and will have the opportunity to defend the trophy they won last season on May 16th when they compete in the final against Hill View, Castletown and Easington Colliery. Well done boys.
The squad then travelled to Hill View to complete their seven a side league fixtures with games against Diamond Hall and Mill Hill. The opening game saw the boys defeat Diamond Hall 11-0 with the goals being shared amongst Riley, Liam, John, Fletcher, Matthew and Kyle. The second game saw a 4-1 victory over Mill Hill with Riley, John, Kyle and Matthew again amongst the goals. The two victories saw the boys finish just outside of the top two in the table and narrowly miss out on qualifying for the finals evening.
