Year 4 Football

The Year 4 football team travelled to Howletch Lane Primary School in Peterlee to compete in the semi-finals of the Durham County Schools Year 4 Trophy, having successfully negotiated the first round stage earlier in the year. The boys started the evening really well and beat Southwick Community Primary School 2-0 thanks to goals from Jayden and Alex. The second game was a much tougher game and despite competing extremely well, they fell to a 3-0 defeat against eventual winners St Mary’s Magdalene. Despite this setback, the boys finished the evening with another strong performance, defeating Howletch Lane 2-0 thanks to another goal from Alex and a goal from Astin. Mr Lindstedt was very proud of the boys and their efforts as they progressed further in the competition than any previous Year 4 side had in recent seasons. Well done boys!

Year 5/6  Nine a Side Football
The Year 5/6 football team travelled to Bernard Gilpin Primary School to play a Watson Cup quarter final tie against a very strong opposition. The team made the best possible start and took the lead when Fletcher burst forward from midfield to fire home. Despite this the side found themselves 4-1 down at the interval and despite going further behind, hit back with a fantastic strike from Layton. The home side then went 7-2 up before Fletcher scored his second goal of the game with another fine effort. Bernard Gilpin scored again on the final whistle to secure an 8-3 victory but it was a very spirited performance from the team despite the school losing grip on the trophy we won last season.
