Lest We Forget
With this year being the centenary of the end of World War 1 the children and staff at Broadway Junior School were determined to ensure that the hampers they make up and donate to members of Sunderland's Royal British Legion were extra special.
After weeks of 'canny shopping' ten fantastic hampers were produced which the children were proud to present to Paul at the main branch in Grange Terrace.
Audrey Ferry, co-ordinator of the project said " this small act of kindness certainly serves as a means of helping the children to remember the sacrifices of so many ordinary men and women and members of their own families, particularly those who gave their lives in order that we could live in peace".
