World Book Day

We've been celebrating World Book Day in Year 3 today and the morning kicked off by coming to school dressed as our favourite book characters!  It's been a whirlwind of a day what with Batman, Harry Potter, Gangsta Granny and Tigger all working in such close proximity - we've even had a 'walking, talking dictionary' join in the fun!

As well as celebrating our favourite books, authors and illustrators, we've learned some interesting facts about why World Book Day was set up back in 1995 and how every child in the UK is given a £1 book token to buy or contribute to buying their own book.  Isn't it a fantastic way of encouraging all children to read?

In Year 3 we understand that reading is a skill that helps us to grow as learners but we also see the equal inportance of reading for pure pleasure!  Some of us are reading David Walliam's 'Billionaire Boy' at the moment and it's certainly raised a lot of smiles and plenty of giggles today!
