Dear parent/carer,

Well this has been a strange week indeed. We are really missing the children, but it has been lovely keeping in touch them through Purple Mash, as well as hearing about what some of them have been up to via Twitter.

Home Learning
Whilst we have provided every child with home learning packs and log in details for online programs, we appreciate that you are not your child’s teacher so please do not put pressure on yourself or your child to complete all of these tasks immediately. They are there if you need them, or if your child is requesting them. Please spread out the tasks, a little each day, if you are using them. Do not hesitate to get in touch with us if you need anything else.

There are many things you can do with your child as a parent during the school closures, which will help them develop vital real life skills, as well as make lovely memories with you. Reading together, exercising together, counting coins, telling the time, learning to tie shoelaces, preparing and eating a meal together, doing some gardening and simply having a conversation, all contribute to your child’s development and it is these things that we’d love you to focus on while your child is at home with you. We will compile a handy list for you to refer to for next week.

Free School Meals
At the time of writing, we are unfortunately still waiting to hear from the Department for Education about the free school meals vouchers that have been promised. We will continue to provide a packed lunch for your child every day - if you haven’t already done so, please call us to let us know if you would like to collect one from Broadway or Grindon Infants. We may also be able to deliver to your home.

Communicating with you
We will continue to put updates on our website, like this one, and will contact you via text to let you know when an update has been posted. Any urgent information will be sent to you by text, so please keep us informed if you change your main contact number.

We will use Twitter for non-urgent information, daily messages and links to resources, so please download the app if you can and follow us @broadwayjuniors.

You can contact us by the usual channels. Our phone line will be manned each weekday 8am - 6pm. You or your child can contact staff directly through Purple Mash’s secure email system. You can also contact us on Twitter.

Remember we are only a phonecall (or email/tweet) away if you need us, so please keep in touch.

Take care and stay safe.
