At Broadway everyone celebrated ‘European Day of languages’ on Friday. Each year group adopted a country for the day and spent time exploring its language, culture and traditions. Year 3 studied France; Year 4 looked at Greece which fits in nicely with their history topic of Ancient Greece; Year 5 investigated Sweden and Year 6 explored the country of Spain. Both children and teachers arrived dressed in the colours of their country’s flag. Across school we sampled foods from around Europe; used the laptops to research our countries; completed some quizzes, crosswords and word searches; produced some Pablo Picasso inspired artwork and of course experimented with some new languages.
