Dear parent/carer,
I am pleased to inform you that the Department for Education have now confirmed that schools can order supermarket vouchers for parents from Monday 18th January instead of offering lunch parcels. The vouchers are to the value of £15 per week for each child and can be ordered for the next four weeks up until half term. We will therefore submit an order of £60 for each child as soon as the Government’s system allows us to do so.
Your £60 voucher will be sent to the email address we have on file for you. If you have recently changed your email address, please telephone the school office. Your voucher can be used in supermarkets directly from your phone. If you require a printed voucher, please let us know.
As it is likely to be several days before your voucher is emailed to you, we would like to invite you to collect a food parcel from school on Tuesday morning (9:30-11:30). A parcel has been ordered for everyone who collected one this week. If you would like your name adding to the list, please telephone us on 0191 5283058.
Sunderland City Council’s School Meals Team ensure that the food parcels they give to schools contain enough food for five lunches for one child and meet the required standards, as set out here:
https://laca.co.uk/laca-view/free-school-meals-guidance-producing-food-parcels
If you believe that your food parcel does not meet the standard set out by the Government in the link above, please telephone school in the first instance and we will of course do everything we can to put things right.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs C. Johnson
