Keeping children safe is at the very centre of our work at Broadway as the children’s safety and well-being is at the very heart of our vision. We therefore acknowledge and adhere to the importance of the ‘Every Child Matters’ agenda and strive to ensure all aspects of the children’s safety and well-being.

Our policy with regard to Safeguarding applies to all adults working in school, who come into contact with the children, staff, governors, students, visitors and volunteers.

We define ‘Safeguarding’ as:

  • providing help and support to meet the needs of children as soon as problems emerge.
  • protecting children from maltreatment, whether that is within or outside the home, including online.
  • preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development.
  • ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care.
  • promoting the upbringing of children with their birth parents, or otherwise their family network through a kinship care arrangement, whenever possible and where this is in the best interests of the children.
  • taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes in line with the outcomes.

If you have any queries or concerns regarding any aspect of your child’s safety and well-being, please do not hesitate to contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead (Mr David Walton-Jonas) or one of our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads on 0191 528 3058.
